Sometime in the mid-forties Edith Heath founded Heath Ceramics. A short time later she found herself the focus of a one woman show at the San Francisco Palace of the Legion of Honor, her work was picked up by Gump’s of San Francisco. Clearly a woman of refined vision and exceptional craftsmanship, her work is a synthesis of simplicity and beauty. Not limited to tableware, the Heath Ceramics product line includes Homeware and Tiles. Her Coupe Collection has been in constant production since its creation in 1948, her Rim Collection (1960) and her Plaza Collection (1980’s) are also currently available.

Edith’s timeless design sense has resulted in many of her unique pieces being added to the permanent collection of MOMA in New York City as well as being the tableware of choice for restaurants including the now famous Chez Panisse. Her company was purchased in 2003 and continues to produce the amazing work of this gifted and dedicated designer. Edith Kiertzner Heath passed away in her sleep on December 27, 2005 a the age of 94.
